Alabama Southern Community College (ASCC) presented more than 70 students with General Equivalency Diplomas (GED) at its Adult Education Commencement Ceremony held June 21, 2012 on the Monroeville campus. Graduates were from Monroe, Clarke, Choctaw and Marengo counties in Alabama. Rodney Lord, Director of Adult Education at ASCC, provided the commencement address and special remarks were made by Dr. Reginald Sykes, president of ASCC. ASCC's Adult Education Program provides an opportuni- ty for,adults to study basic edu- cation (Language Arts reading and writing, math, science and history), prepare for the GEl) high school equivalency test or to earn an Adult High School Diploma. Using the most up to-date training equipment, stu- dents work at their own speed on an individual basis, and can enroll at any time during the year. All Adult Education class- cs and GED Prep Courses are free, including course materials. Day and evening classes are available on the Monroeville, Thomasville, Jackson and Gilbertown campuses. For those students who need to study from home, ASCC also offers a free online GEl) prepa- ration course to qualifying adults.
