Mrs. Velma Little was hon-
ored on her 90th birthday cele-
bration at Linden Elementary
School Cafeteria on Saturday,
March 10, 2012, at 4:00 p.m.
In an informal setting, family
members and friends pinned
flowers on Mrs. Little for the
contributions she has made to
them and their families.
The Rev. Joseph Harper told
how Mrs. Little encouraged him
when he first came to Marengo
County to pastor Hopewell
Baptist Church. She would
always say, "I love you, Baby"
so he echoed these words to her.
The Rev. Jerome Burrell
said, as a high school student, he
had "camped out" many nights
with Mrs. Little when he had no
ride home after ball practice.

Her nephew, Roger Little,

A highlighted moment of the gospel
celebration occurred when Mrs.
Little's grandson Bobby ln|| ig
Jackson proposed to his girl-
friend Ms. Samantha Wright of
Sumter County, and she accept-
ed his proposal. There was a
pause in the celebration as fam-
ily members expressed their ela-

Mrs. Machelle spoke for the
children. She thanked her
Mother for all she had done for
them, especially the fact that she
"had drugged" them to church.
