The Bryan W. Whitfield
Memorial Hospital Auxiliary
met in the Classroom on
Thursday at 10:00 a.m. on
March 8. Rebecca Culpepper,
President, called the meeting to
order and J. D. Barnes asked the
blessing on the patients, work-
ers and hospital.
J. D. then gave the treasurers
report.
Rebecca reported that the
new televisions had been
received that the Auxiliary pur-
chased.
Johnnie Knott, secretary,
called the roll and read the min-
utes.
The president announced
with regrets that Lynn Brasfield
had resigned from the Auxiliary.
Dot Russell reported on the
recent Uniform Sale and she
expressed appreciation to all of
the workers.
Betty Baxley told of plans for
the Auxiliary members who vol-
unteered to go to Southern Oaks
for a birthday party for the resi-
dents in the #2 unity at 1:00
p.m. on that day.
Rachel Lamb reported that
the members could sign up for
preferred work day and hours
and flyers at the conclusion of
the meeting. The $5.00 Jewelry
Sale will be on Thursday, March
22nd from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00
p.m., and'on the 23rd from 7:00
a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Sharon Farst reported on the
condition of the Consultation
Room and suggested that it
needs work done on it and furni-
ture repaired or replaced. This
item will be looked into.
The president reported that
new planters had been placed at
the entrance of the hospital.
Mike Marshall, CEO, report-'
ed on the inspection by the Joint
Commission, thus the several
interruptions of the meedng due
to the alarms and flashing lights.
He said that January and
February had been extremely
busy months for the hospital.
Again he thanked the Auxiliary
members for all of the work and
contributions made to the hospi-
tal.
Betty Baxley reported on the
District 111 Auxiliary meeting
hosted by the Green County
Auxiliary in Eutaw on March 1.
The local Auxiliary was repre-
sented by Johnnie Knott,
Brenda Packer, Sharon Farst,
Betty Baxley, J. D. Barnes,
Rebecca Culpepper and Pearl
Slay.
She also distributed to the
members copies of the new
"Auxiliary Happenings"
newsletter, Volume 1, Number
1. The newsletter has numerous
items of interest.

St. Leo's Ladies Auxiliary
met in the Parish Hall at 6:00 on
Wednesday, March 7.
Janice Alegria, President,
opened the meeting with the
members reading a beautiful
prayer regarding joy, laughter
and faith.
Jan McDonald read the min-
utes of the last meeting and
Betty McCormick gas the uea-
surer's report.
The president reported the
church members have been very
generous in contributing month-
ly items suggested for the
Christmas Shoe Boxes.
Announcement was also
made regarding the NCCW
meeting at EWTN in kondale in
April.
Diane Busby reported on
plans for the Easter Egg hunt.
Since there is a conflict with the
Spring Break, it was decided to
have it on Holy Saturday, April
7 from 10 to noon.
Plans for the First
Communion Celebration on
May 6 were delayed until the
April meeting.
Several of our church family
and friends have various illness-
es and the group recited The
Lord's Prayer and Hail for
these friends.
The next meeting will be on
April 4, and Mary Elliott will.be
hostess.
Denise Duke was the hostess
for the meeting and the group
enjoyed the delicious meal and
fellowship.
I hope all of the readers exer-
cised the privilege of voting on
the March 13 election. ith so
many citizens running locally,
there will probably be some
runoffs, so if you didn't vote this
time, you will have the opportu-
nity of casting your ballot next
time.

BBCF to host Community
Kindergarten Registration
Awareness Grant.
Seekers Workshops
The Black Belt Community
Foundation (BBCF) will con-
duct a series of Community
Awareness Grant Seekers
Workshops throughout the
Black Belt region of Alabama
between February 20th and
March 15th, 2012. Applications
will be available at each of these
workshops' TlaeBBAI Grant
Application deadline will be
April 16, 2012 and the
Community Grant Application
deadline will be May 15, 2012.
Community organizations
based in and serving BBCF's
12-county service area are invit-
ed to attend these workshops,
where they will learn more
about the Black Belt
Community Foundation and
their Grants Program. Those
counties include Bullock,
Choctaw, Dallas, Greene, Hale,
Lowndes, Macon, Marengo,
Perry, Pickens, Sumter and

refund:claims with the ADOR.
The' refund claims are based
on portions of the state excise
|ax paid by farmers on gasoline
and "clear" motor fuel used in
tractors or any auxiliary engines
attached to tractors during 2011
for agricultural puqsoses. The
refunditate is 11 cents per gal-
lola t'i gasoline and "clear"
